Captain's profile: Dean Bubb

Witteberg captain Dean Bubb will be hoping his considerable experience proves decisive in their Classic Clash against Bethelehem Voortrekker.

The 1.70m and 65kg scrumhalf has played in the first team for Witteberg since 2013, and describes the opportunity to lead the team this year as a privilege.

"It is a privilege to represent my team and school as a leader. I feel that the strength of my team is a strength of a leader.

"As captain I keep my team as a unit and keep them positive. As a player my strength is to have a big heart and stand back for no-one," he said.

Witteberg have had some mixed results so far this season, but form will count for little in the big Classic Clash and Bubb has told his team to give it their all.

"We need to believe that we can beat them, we just have to stay positive and leave nothing behind on the field. Whether we win or lose we just have to give it our all.

"It is not about how good you are, but how bad you want it," he said.

Bubb plans to study a Bsc in Agriculture at Kovsies next year, and hopes to continue chasing his dream of playing in the green and gold of the Springboks one day.

He is expecting a hard game from their rivals on Saturday, with neither side willing to give an inch.

"It will be a very hard game, played at a high tempo," he said.
