Captain's profile: Divan Bruwer
Being his second year in the first XV, Bruwer was part of the team who suffered a defeat at the hands of the old foe. Despite losing the Classic Clash, Randburg went on to beat Linden in the Golden Lions' league for large schools' finals.
"Losing the 2015 Classic Clash was really hard on the boys. But we did have an opportunity to redeem ourselves when we played in the [2015 Golden Lions' league for large schools] final.
"Winning the final against Linden was the highlight of my rugby career," Bruwer stated.
Randburg's season so far has been filled with disruptions and plagued with injuries.
Despite having a terrible start, the team has managed to finally build some momentum. Every week they manage to put on a gutsy performance that took them from strength to strength.
The center hopes that they will continue building on that momentum this weekend.
"After a very tough season, we are privileged to fielding a full strength squad against Linden on Saturday.
"Linden's game has always been centered on a quick pace with big collisions. Thus, I’m expecting no difference when we take to the field on Saturday. The [first XV] coaches have prepared us to deal with any type of challenges and we are up for it," he added.
At just 17-years-old, Bruwer already has a great awareness of his leadership capabilities. He enjoys the responsibility of captaincy.
"Being named captain of such a rich rugby history school is an honour and privilege. I always strive to lead by example and motivate my team when I wear the first XV jersey," he said
