Captain's profile: Gerhard Meyer
The 2015 edition of the clash saw Klerksdorp claim a 32-21 victory on home soil and Meyer would want to turn that result around on his home ground, despite struggling with a few injuries.
"We started on a high in the 'Puks-reeks' tournament but we have hit a bit of a rocky patch now, having lost two consecutive matches. But we will need to bring that run of losses to an end in this game and hopefully be able to get one over them, considering they beat us last year [2015].
"We are expecting them to come at us with a quick, attacking game but we also know that they are solid in defence. So for us to be successful in this match, we will need to remain positive by working hard and keeping our heads up.
"Even though we are struggling a little bit with injuries, we will be fielding a balanced team and I feel we have the players to get the positive result," Meyer said.
Despite having represented the Leopards in the shortened Sevens format, the 18-year-olf flank describes the 2015 Classic Clash between then schools as the highlight of his career as the match was televised.
Other than this Classic Clash, Lichtenburg's next goal is playing in the Beeld trophy finals but knows that it will take respect and discipline to get there.
"As a captain, if we want to achieve our goals and become a successful team, then discipline and respect towards each other and the coaches is extremely important. Yes, it is a massive honour to be named captain but that comes with a certain responsibility towards my team mates and coaches.
"As captain, I am determined to help the team reach its goals while I too have some personal milestones I want to reach, such as playing for the Leopards," he added.
In the very near future, Meyer will be heading to Bloemfontein to study agriculture while he continues to play the sport he loves.
