Captain's Profile: Heinnie Coetzee
Wolmaransstad head into their Classic Clash with Schoonspruit on Saturday knowing they will be in for a tough battle, having already played against each other earlier in the year.
Wollies captain, Heinnie Coetzee believes his side has what it takes to beat their rivals despite their inexperienced squad and injuries to key players.
"We are a very young group of players and unfortunately we are struggling with a few injuries but that does not mean we will not be ready for Saturday. We have prepared well for the match and are very positive about our chances.
"Schoonspruit and Wollies [Wolmaransstad] are always tough competitors on the field and we are expecting nothing less than a very hard, physical battle. They will definitely come hard at us but we will certainly not back down and are ready for the tough battle ahead of us," he said.
The Grade 12 pupil takes up his place at the back of the scrum and adds 80kgs of brute force to a team whose ethos is straight forward – one man, one team.
"We have had a good season thus far and that comes to down to us simply enjoying playing with each other. I firmly believe that you will get the best out of your team mates when you play for them until the final whistle and never give up.
"The ethos is simple: One man, one team," he added.
While being named captain of your school's first XV is always a massive honour, Coetzee's fondest rugby memory was making his first XV debut and believes his never-say-die attitude serves as motivation in a team that is want to play for each other.
"I lead by example and motivate everyone around me to never give up and fight until the bitter end. It is such a huge honour to lead a team that enjoys playing for each other," he stated.
