Captain's Profile: Heino Bezuidenhout

Daniel Pienaar captain Heino Bezuidenhout says he will not have any problems motivating his team ahead of their Classic Clash against Brandwag on Saturday.

The 88kg, 1.88m centre, who is now in his second year playing in the school's first team, knows how to get the best out of his team and the style of rugby he wants them to play.

"It’s a huge honour and I am very happy about being named captain. I can always find a way to motivate my players and play smart rugby and not just playing bashing rugby," said Bezuidenhout.

Daniel Pienaar lost both of their last two fixtures against Brandwag and Bezuidenhout believes his team has what it takes to turn things around this year.

"In the past we have had a mental block against Brandwag. The guys seem to lose it, but I’m positive about this weekend.

"We will go into this week with a calm mind and a positive attitude and treat this game as any other, play our hearts out and just live in the moment," he added.

Last year was a memorable one for Bezuidenhout in that he was part of Eastern Province's side that won Craven Week.

"Winning the Craven week in 2014 was the best feeling ever and an experience I would never forget. Playing alongside top class players is amazing," he said.

His performances for his province earned him a deserved selection into the SA Schools side where he played against both England and Wales. He maintains that this has been the highlight of his bourgeoning career so far.

When asked what his plans were for the future, Bezuidenhout said: "My plans are to play rugby after school, try and get a contract overseas, make money, come back and buy myself a farm."
