Captain's profile: Kyle Ford
Despite being Ford's debutant season in the first XV team, the 17-year-old has the responsibility of captaincy bestowed upon him, to top it all off.
The hooker describes the role of captain as the highlight of his rugby career.
"Playing for the first XV is always amazing. And being named captain is the highlight of my final year at school.
"But I know the captaincy title comes with huge responsibly. To know that your teammates and the first XV rugby coach trusts your leadership is a huge honour and privileged.
"As a captain I emphasize the importance of honesty and being disciplined in all that I do," Ford said.
The Classic Clash between the teams have always been tightly contested. Although Kasselsvlei secured a narrow 12-6 win in 2014 Classic Clash, Ford is fully aware that Bellville South will have a keen interest in restoring their past dominance in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs.
"Our season had a wobbly start, with players not really aware of their role within the team. However, we have built some momentum and hopefully we can take it into Saturday's match.
"They [Bellville South] will be coming hard at us, and will try to dominate the game from the start. It is about pride. But we are up for the challenge and should not be underestimated.
"We will be fielding a well balance squad on Saturday. We have some experienced guys as well as some debutants who have really cemented themselves in the first XV.
"We have to stay calm and relaxed. Our strength lies in the fact that we always play as a team," he added.
The matriculant's future plan is to continue playing rugby and to study Sports Management.
