Captain's profile: Marco Griebenauw
Griebenauw already has an impressive rugby career. The 18-year-old represented Boland Under-13 Craven week side in 2012 and in 2016 he represented the Boland U18 Academy Week team. He was also given Boland's U18 Academy week side's vice captain's armband and have shown tremendous leadership prowess.
"Being able to lead a first XV is an honour and I am immensely proud that the coach believes in me. It is a big responsibility, but one I am willing to take on my shoulders," Griebenauw said.
The No.8 is very resilient and as a captain, he constantly conveys that same type of attitude to his peers, and Saturday will be no different.
"This is our third Classic Clash against Landboudal – we won last year's [16-12] and suffered a [3-43] defeat in 2015 – so it is all to play for.
"I am expecting a very physical match, they are a disciplined team.
"Unfortunately, we are missing our Boland Academy lock due to injury, but we have a fairly well-balanced team with many players playing in their second Classic Clash
"We just have to believe in ourselves and be prepared for a difficult but good game," he added.
With this being his last year in the first XV jersey, the 18-year-old have fond memories of his time at Augsburg.
"The highlight of my rugby career thus far has to be our game against Driehoek High School at the Oakdale Rugby Festival. We were behind at half time, 6-31. We won the match 41 – 36 and I scored the winning try," he added.
The matriculant's future plans are to study at Stellenbosch and continue to play rugby for Maties.
