Captain's Profile: Marco Saaiman
HS Marais Viljoen will look to build on their successful season by claiming a first-ever Classic Clash victory over rivals HS Florida on Saturday.
Marais Viljoen have not been able to get the better of Florida in all their previous Classic Clashes but captain Marco Saaiman is hopeful his experienced first team has what it takes to etch their name in the history books.
"Since the first FNB Classic Clash, Marais Viljoen is yet to come out victorious but we have had a good season thus far – winning 10 of our 13 games – and we will look to continue that form into Saturday's game.
"We will field a full strength side that mainly consists of Grade 12 pupils who all possess a lot of first team experience. We know they will come at us with forwards who love to carry the ball so that they can setup front-foot ball and release the speed they have in the backline.
"We will definitely not underestimate them and will prepare for the game as if it is a final," he said.
The flank leads from the front in everything he does and believes his ability to remain positive and give his best will inspire the team to give it their all until the final whistle.
"I lead by doing and always try to keep my team to do their best no matter what the scoreline is and their enthusiasm makes me excited, as we can achieve a lot this year.
"It is an honour to lead such a team and I believe that if I always keep my head up and give my best, it will inspire the team to keep playing with everything they have," he added.
Saaiman is hopeful of continuing his academic career by studying Land Landscaping at the Twsane University of Technology when he completes his High School studies.
