Captain's profile: Marinus Aucamp
The third-largest city of the Free State will come to a standstill on Saturday, July 23 as these traditional rivals battle it out to paint the city in their school's colours. Kroonstad has been bright red after Rooies bagged a 36-3 victory in the 2015 edition of the clash.
And it now up to Aucamp and his charges to back that result up by claiming another victory over Bloues.
"We have had a good season thus far and with us winning the 2015 Classic Clash, we are very positive about the game and feel that we have what it takes to claim another victory. We are a young team though but I feel that we are looking good.
"We know it will be a hard game, as it has become known to be. It will be the last Classic Clash and derby for some of us, so we will need to play our hearts out and leave nothing to chance. However, we should also not forget to play as a team. It will be crucial to play for each other," Aucamp said.
The 17-year-old, scrumhalf has enjoyed representing the first XV for two years and sees his debut as the highlight of his short career.
"By far the highlight of my career has been running out onto the field for my debut match in the Rooies jersey. So having progressed from that point to now being able to captain the team is a massive honour for me.
"I feel that my leadership as a captain is one of my strengths while, as a player, I pride myself on my tackling and being able to snipe through a gap with ball in hand. As a captain, it is important to remain humble despite the leadership role and it is similarly important to maintain a high work ethic," he added.
While he may not see himself pursuing a career in the sport, he knows that he wants to obtain entry into a university to gain a tertiary qualification.
