Captain's profile Marthin Deysel

Dr Malan captain Marthin Deysel knows that they will have to keep their cool in their Classic Clash against Driehoek.

Having lost at home last year, Deysel's team will travel the short distance from Meyerton to Vanderbijlpark this weekend looking for revenge, but the big 1.97m, 92kg No.8 knows that it will not be easy against a well-drilled Driehoek side.

"We are expecting a tough game. They always bring their A-game, but so will we.

"We just need to stay calm and do not overthink the game," he said.

The Dr Malan skipper is happy with the way his team has come together this season, with the catalyst being their tour to Naboomspruit, and is hoping to have a full-strength side available on Saturday.

"We have had  very good season so far. The team is coming together nicely.

"It is an experienced group of players. We have some injury concerns in key areas, but hopefully it will be sorted out before Saturday," he said.

Deysel plans to study at NWU-Pukke next year and plans to play rugby in Potchefstroom, and he says that being named captain of his school in his final year is the source of immense pride.

"I am proud, but it comes with great responsibility. I try to set an example on and off the field and encourage players to always give their best," he explained.
