Captain's profile: Mthokozisi Ntuli
Durban High School captain Mthokozisi Ntuli wants his team to believe that they have what it takes to beat rivals Glenwood in their Classic Clash on Saturday.
This was the 18-year-old's message to his teammates this week as they aim to turn around a losing streak in this huge tie.
"I want us to turn up on Saturday believing in what we trying to achieve as a team, which is to win," said Ntuli.
The 1.88m, 100gk No.8 knows some of the legendary players that captained DHS in the pass and understands the responsibility that lies ahead.
"It is a massive honour. Many great men have had the opportunity to captain a DHS first team side. I just find t remarkable.
"My captain's philosophy is to lead from the front and letting the actions do the talking," added Ntuli.
Ntuli, who represented Kwa-Zulu Natal during Grant Khomo Week in 2013, describes himself as a versatile player who is able to adapt to any situation.
I have variation in my game depending on the match situation. I can be physical or have a go. Most importantly I am able to lead upfront," he said.
The grade 12 learner says his team is at full strength with a good mix of experience and youth for Saturday's game and he knows what to expect from the Green Machine.
"They have been dominant over us in recent years, but overall we have a more superior winning ratio.
"They always bring their physical game. It is just in their nature, but they also have very quick backs with ball in hand," he explained.
Ntuli is passionate about the game of rugby and hopes to have a long career in the sport one day.
"I love the game and would really love to play professionally after school," Ntuli said.
