Captain's profile: Ruan Combrinck
The 18-year-old has two years' experience in the first XV and boasts a massive 44 caps in the first XV jersey.
"To represent my school's first XV for two consecutive years is really an honour. And to be named captain was just the highlight of my rugby career. I'm proud to lead the Brackenfell first XV team and therefore, I just feel I have to give my all with every match," Combrinck said.
The hosts head into the match as clear underdogs, having lost six Classic Clashes and drawn one in this Brakke-Tiere rivalry. The captain is fully aware of the threat Tygerberg poses.
"We have always been very unlucky when it comes to this Classic Clash because we always seem to fail at the last hurdle. I hope it will be different this year and we have no choice but to correct our mistakes from the past.
"Our great season thus far has laid a solid foundation for a victory ahead of the Classic Clash. The guys have learned and grown as a team. On Saturday, we will be fielding an experienced side. Fortunately for us, the guys have managed to gain full fitness before the match," he added.
Playing in his last Classic Clash, the matriculant gave his team some last words of wisdom ahead of the Cape's Northern Suburbs match.
"My message to the team is to be focused and relaxed. They should just do what they have always have been doing, which is giving their best and just enjoy the game as a team," he stated.
After making the final round of the Western Province trials in 2016, the 18-year-old's future plans are to hopefully play provincial rugby and later head to one of the overseas clubs.
