Despite securing a 36-20 victory in 2015, the visitors know that Randburg is never an easy opponent – especially not with home ground advantage.
"Randburg is known for their hard-hitting rugby and going to their field is never an easy task.
"This year, given that they are celebrating their 50th anniversary, I anticipate a hard and intense match-up.
"We cannot depend on past success. Every year has its new set of challenges. With them [Randburg] out for blood, we have no choice but to believe in ourselves," Mathusser said.
On Saturday, Linden will take to the field with a full strength squad. There are no reported injuries and all first team players are up for selection.
The team has been playing together all season and have had a good season so far. The last two matches were a little tough, Linden had to really put in hard performances to secure victories against Bastion and Alberton.
The skipper hopes that his team are up for yet another gutsy performance against their neighbours.
The 18-year-old is not shy when it comes to hard work as his rugby career only commenced in high school. With just two years’ experience as a player on high school level, the matriculant’s raw talent secured him a place in the Under-16 Golden Lions Academy team in 2014.
"One of the highlights would be being part of the Golden Lions Academic team. It was awesome to meet new people and gave me a chance to develop my technique.
"The second highlight would have to be being named captain of the first XV. Captaincy is a huge honour and came as a surprise," he added.
With his sights set on his academics, as well as furthering his rugby career, who knows what surprises are still on the cards for this young man.
