Captain's profile: Werner Roberts

Grey College captain Werner Roberts has never lost a game against Affies, and he does not intend to let that change this weekend.

The Pretoria side head down to Bloemfontein for their Classic Clash on Saturday to face a Grey side that has lost two consecutive matches to Monument and Paarl Boys High.

Roberts is determined to turn things around and emulate the epic victory Grey picked up over their rivals in Pretoria last year.

"Some results didn’t go our way, but we are looking forward to turn it around and keep working hard," he said.

The imposing No.8 who stands 1.87m tall and weighs 93kg, will take the game to Affies who he expects to attack his side up front.

"I’m a strong ball carrier and to motivate my players to focus on the enjoyment of the game.

"They will be very physical with their big pack. It’s always a very close tough battle between the two schools," he said.

Grey have been hit hard by injuries this year, but Roberts is positive that any player wearing the Grey jersey will do the school proud.

"Because of all the injuries, there will be a few new faces in the team, but they are eager to put pride into the first team jersey.

"I have told the team to keep our heads high and to play and train like winners," he said.
