Coed Clash in East London

On Saturday, 17 August, there is an FNB Classic Clash in East London between two coed schools who love rugby and do it well – Cambridge High and Hudson Park High, which takes its name from a city councilor.

This is just the third time that matches between the two schools have been FNB Classic Clashes. In 2011, Hudson Park won 34-3. Last year Cambridge won 20-12. Of course the schools are much older than that and will have been playing each other long before then. Cambridge was founded in the centre of East London in 1879, while Hudson Park in various forms dates back to 1905 but became a high school only in 1965.

Season so Far

Cambridge have played 19 matches, winning nine of them. Hudson Park have played 16 matches, winning eight and drawing one. One of Hudson Park's victories was a 32-23 win over Cambridge in the second term.

Both have taken on highly rated schools, Hudson Park more so. Both teams have had good results against highly rated schools; Hudson Park beat Dale and drew with Selborne while Cambridge have only just lost to Dale and Selborne. They are both worthy opposition

Results against Common Opponents

Dale: Cambridge lost 21-18 and 33-17; Hudson Park lost 21-10 and won 28-19

Grens: Cambridge won 31-25; Hudson Park won 36-10
