Die Brandwag of Uitenhage began their season with a big win over Solomon Mahlangu, also of Uitenhage

By half-time Die Brandwag led 33-3 and eventually doubled their score to win 66-3, scoring 10 tries on the day.

Flyhalf Malan Olivier converted eight of the 10 tries.

For Solomon Mahlangu their only score was a penalty goal by their fullback, Lutho. His name may mean nothing but he scored something.
