Die Brandwag too strong for Muir
Muir opened the scoring when fullback Sine-Sipho Toyis used some fancy footwork along the touchline to beat the defence and dot down under the sticks. Centre Sicelo Tole kicked the conversion to extend Muir’s lead.
Die Brandwag ran in three unanswered tries of which two were converted. This put the hosts ahead and they remained in the lead going into the break.
The second half was physical and riddled with errors for a stop/start game with no continuity. Brandwag got a few phases together and scored their fourth of the game.
Muir applied a lot of pressure on defence, forced an error and then capitalised to see flanker Luvo Mbovane cross in the corner.
The hosts retained possession, put a few phases together to draw in the Muir defence. They then used the space out wide to score a converted try and seal the victory.
Capitan and prop Khudzayi Dube had a solid game and led from the front. He was supported by lock William Hendy, flank Ntsika Fisanti and centre Sine Tsosta who put their bodies on the line and played until the final whistle.
