Field of Dreams Sevens Tournament
Glenwood first took on Hillcrest and beat them 38-7 in the first pool game. Rynhardt Jonker, JJ van der Mescht, Dylan Kruger, Christo Barnard, Morné van Rensburg and Siyanda Cele all scored tries.
The second pool game was against Westville, were Glenwood beat them 26-5, after being lagging behind 0-5. Tries for Glenwood was scored by JJ van der Mescht, R. Jonker, Morné v Rensburg and Siyanda Cele.
Glenwood then advanced to the “Cup Quarter Final” losing to Pionier 7-14. Too many unforced errors cost Glenwood the match and the team had to regroup to be competitive in the “Plate Competition”. The only try was scored by Christo Barnard.
Glenwood’s next fixture was in the “Semi-final of the Plate” against Maritzburg College. Glenwood scored 3 tries to win this match 19-5. JJ van der Mescht scored 2 tries and Jordan Hendrikse one.
In the “Plate Final” Glenwood beat Kearsney 24-12. After our disappointment against Pionier the boys played well and won the “Plate Competition”. JJ van der Mescht scored with Morné van Rensburg dotting down twice and Siyanda Cele scoring once.
While Durban High school won the final.
The side had two teams in the semi finals of tournaments. The second team went down to George Campbell but the first team beat Michaelhouse and move on to face Westvillle in the final.
DHS walked away with a 47-17 win over Westville to secure the title.
