Glenwood Go to Goldstone's
This is no trivial match between Maritzburg College and Glenwood, both strong teams, both vying for top spot in KwaZulu-Natal.
They are two excellent teams, Glenwood ranked ninth on the FNB Top 20 and College 14th. They are both brave teams willing to take on all comers.
They have met before this year – in Durban when Glenwood won 27-14.That was in Durban; this is on Goldstone's, the most feared venue for visitors in KwaZulu-Natal.
Both had excellent wins last weekend, both in Pretoria. Glenwood beat Affies 36-22 and College beat Pretoria Boys High 35-18, two teams which will also play each other this weekend.
Both of them will be at their best and doing their best. They are able to pick their best teams, including players in the SA Schools side to play England, France and Wales later this month.
Season So Far
Both are ranked on the FNB Top 20 -0 Glenwood ninth and College 14th, which means that they are amongst the very top of South African schools' teams this year.
Glenwood have played 18 matches, 11 of them against teams who are or have been in the Top 20. They won 13, losing to Waterkloof, Outeniqua, Monument and Grey Bloem. There is no disgrace in that,
College gave played 17 matches, winning 13 and drawing two. They lost to two other Top 20 teams – Glenwood and Wynberg (17-16). They have beaten two teams who have been on the Top 20 – Affies and Michaelhouse.
