It is early in the season. Both sides have been to festivals for three matches each – Glenwood at Kearsney and Westville at St Stithians. Glenwood won its three matches, against Dr EG Jansen, Framesby and Noord-Kaap, while Westville lost to Grey PE and beat St Alban's and St Benedict's. Previously Westville had lost to Michaelhouse.

In the first FNB Top 20 of the year Glenwood are ranked 10th.

Glenwood would be expected to win but the last time they lost on Dixons, was against Westville in 2015 when Westville won 18-17. Fortunately, rugby is always capable of producing the unexpected.

In all there will be 22 matches between the two schools. That means that 44 teams will be in action, of which the 1st XV has overall importance. "We beat.." means that the 1st XV beat..
