Gouties dethrone Gimmies
After two years of Welkom Gimnasium victories in this Welkom derby, Hoërskool Goudveld struck back with a resounding 36-18 in their FNB Classic Clash on a warm, sunny day at Welkom Gimnasium on Saturday.
It was Gouties' highest score ever against Gimmies. At half-time Gouties led 19-8.
This win knocked Gimmies put of further contention for the Griffons League.
The outstanding players for Gouties was outside centre Carlton Coeries and his flyhalf Shaquille Adams, flank Michael Herbert who is the captain of the team and flank Malcolm Britz.
None of those players made the Griffons sides at Craven Week or Academy Week while Gimmies had four players who had been to Craven Week and three who were at the Academy Week. And then Nazo Nkala was chosen for SA Schools.
