Grey captain: Alex Jonker
Grey captain Alex Jonker feels honoured to be playing in, and hosting, an FNB Classic Clash against Paul Roos as he knows their opponents are a tough outfit.
The encounter will be made slightly tougher for the home side as they have been hit with injuries that sees a few key players missing the match but, as is expected given the depth of players they have at their disposal, will be fielding a fairly experienced team.
Its been a very long and hard season for the Bloem learners having only had four home matches of the 17 they have played. Needless to say, the players are looking to entertain and impress the home crowd.
The matriculant has represented the Free State throughout his school rugby career and feels honoured to have had those opportunities.
"It's always a big honour to play for your province. The games against the other provinces are always a big challenge," he said.
The eighth man will be running out onto the field with joy and pride in his heart as being named captain of a prestigous rugby school is the highligh of his rugby career thus far.
"It’s a big privilege to captain the first team and it meant a lot for me this year. It’s a dream come true," he added.
Jonker is in his second year of representing the first XV and the no nonsense loose forward is a firm believer in letting his actions do the talking for him on the field.
Not only will the 18-year-old be furthuring his education and rugby career when attends Kovsies but he has also been snapped up by the Cheetahs.
