Grey take on Queen's
It is a journey of some 340 km from Queenstown to Port Elizabeth and 21 rugby teams will be making the journey to help Grey to celebrate its reunion, a time when the Grey family grows in happy celebration.
The schools are old by South African standards – Grey founded in 1856, Queen's in 1858. Both are enthusiastic about their rugby, Grey is a bigger school than Queen's, and this year more successful on the rugby field.
After nine matches, Grey are still unbeaten. They have won eight and drawn with Marlow. At present they are ranked 9th on the Schools Top 20. They have played two other teams in the Top 20 and beaten them both. They beat Paul Roos 22-20 and DHS a whopping 50-17. In last Saturday's match, they beat Graeme College of Grahamstown 22-15.
The Queen's season has not been nearly as good. They have won only three of their 11 matches. One of those was their recent victory over most ardent rivals, Dale. They beat them 25-24 on their reunion day in Queenstown. Recently they just lost – 14-12 – to Selborne down in East London. But then the Queenians are determined and proud, and so will give of their best.
