Kings of Sasolburg
Hoërskool Sasolburg underlined their domianance over local rivals HTS Sasolburg who they beat 22-13 in a competitive FNB Classic Clash at the P de Villiers Stadium on Saturday.
That means that Hoërskool Sasolburg have now won five out of the seven FNB Classic Clashes between the schools, to HTS Sasolburg's two, although they did not have things all their own way in the big derby.
The experienced Hoërskool Sasolburg side featured 12 players from last year's team that won 69-13, but they were forced to work hard this year by a spirited HTS Sasolburg side.
It was a close contest throughout with both teams showing plenty of commitment on defence, but Hoërskool Sasolburg were able to outscore their more technical opponents by four tries to two in the end.
HTS Sasolburg were first to score through burly skipper Heinrich van Tonder, but Hoërskool Sasolburg were able to hold their nerve and struck back with a superb individual effort from flyhalf Frikkie Oosthuizen who was eventually named man of the match.
Further tries from left wing Jarrod Dawson, right wing Lourens de Lang and hooker Francois Coetzee helped seal what was a hard-fought win in the end.
The 'Spanners' from HTS Sasolburg got another try of their own through Riaan Nel, but it was not enough to avoid another defeat.
