Landboudal win first Classic Clash

Landboudal beat Augsburg Landbou 43-3 in what was a first ever Classic Clash meeting between the two agricultural schools.

After formalities were taken care of and after the headmasters of the schools met the opposing teams and shared a toast, the match finally kicked-off in an electric atmosphere with the two schools chanting their songs.

The start of the match was like a boxing match with both teams not risking anything and keeping their cards close to their chests.  There were some massive collisions that made it a bit of a stop start affair at first, but after a while the teams settled nicely.

Augsburg drew first blood with a penalty kick, but this seemed to spur on the Landboudal team as they scored a try shortly thereafter to take the lead. Just before half-time Landboudal scored another well worked try. The half-time score was 12-3 for Landboudal.

Both teams came out firing in the second half, but it was Landboudal’s heavier pack that laid the foundation for their attacking game. The Landboudal backs flourished with the good quality ball that they received and this enabled them to score a few great tries in the second half. Augsburg never stopped fighting and put in a few massive hits.

The score might suggest otherwise, but this was a very competitive match with both teams putting their bodies on the line.
