Lichtenburg look to turn the tables

Hoërskool Lichtenburg will be out to turn the tables on rivals Hoërskool Klerksdorp when they host them in their FNB Classic Clash on Saturday.

Klerksdorp have won the last two encounters between the teams and have won the majority of matches between the schools down the years as well so Lichtenburg have the tag of underdogs on home territory.

However, the home side have made an encouraging start to the season, with five wins from their seven games so far, and they will be keen to carry that momentum into the Classic Clash as they look to turn things around.

Things have not been as easy for Klerksdorp, but they have arguably faced tougher opposition including the TUKS Super 16 tournament which saw them finish 12th.

Both teams are fairly experienced with 11 Matrics in the Lichtenburg side and nine in the Klerksdorp team and with both captain's having played together at Grant Khomo Week for the Leopards in 2012 there are clearly quality players on either side.

There are no major injuries on either side, which means that both teams will be at full strength, although the Lichtenburg centres are not likely to finish the game as they have only recently returned to full fitness.

The two sides have not had any common opponents this season, although Klerksdorp have played much tougher teams with victories over the likes of Framesby, Florida and Marais Viljoen.

Lichtenburg have had narrow losses to Potch Volkies, Frikkie Meyer and HTS Witbank whilst they were too strong for Merensky.
