Methodists Meet in Randburg

St Stithians College of Randburg play host to Kearsney College of Botha’s Hill on Saturday in their annual Methodist derby.

Apart from religion, the two schools have something else in common – each running remarkable tournaments at Easter. The Saints tournament is the first of such tournaments in South Africa.

The first match in the series between the two schools was played in 1957, a match which Kearsney won 11-6.

A dozen Kearsney rugby teams will make the journey over the Drakensberg. It promises to be a close match, as it was last year, and a high-scoring one, as it was last year when Kearsney won 36-31. St Stithians’ matches tend to be high-scoring, averaging 69 points per match over the season.

Season So Far

St Stithians have played 10 matches, winning five and losing five.
