Noord-Kaap - Gehard Holezhausen

Gehard Holezhausen is a captain that takes pride in his work, seeing it as another position to fill on the field as he motivates and encourages.

Having been through the provincial system since Under-13 playing in the Grant Khomo week when he was Under-16 and twice playing in the Craven Week.

Furthermore, Holezhausen has already represented his country at Under-18 level in Sevens.

As a captain, Holezhausen's philosophy is that you need to win your team over first.

"If you want to be a good leader you first have to gain your teams confidence and respect first," he said of his leadership style.

"With my team, it makes things easier because these guys are easy to lead as a team – they are a great group who want to work for you."

So far Noord-Kaap's season has been decent but there have been a slip up every once and a while.

"It has been a good season, we have missed out on a few vital points here and there – so there is still room to improve," he continued.

The Classic Clash against Diamantveld will always be a tough game up in Kimberley, and Holezhausen is very prepared for it.

"It is going to be hard, and it is going to be tough – more than anything it will be a physical clash," he continued.

"We are very prepared though, there is nothing that is going to surprise us."

The message to the team from the inspirational captain has been a simple one all week.

"We have been saying all week – 'good vibes' just keep calm and enjoy ourselves.," he concluded.
