Outeniqua captain - Le Roux Baard
Le Roux Baard will be riding high after appearing in the Craven Week final this year and will be hoping to rise to similar heights in his teams Classic Clash against Oudtshoorn.
A young man who is clearly destined for great things in rugby, he was able to lead his provincial team to a final, out stripping some of the bigger unions.
He was also selected to represent his country at Under-18 level all this while playing his second year of first team rugby at a proud sporting school.
"The craven week of 2014 was very special to me, because SWD played in the final," he said.
"Although we have lost the match, it still was a great feeling and experience.
"I have a great pride in being named captain of my school, a very proud rugby school! and then it is very exciting to be part of the SA School squad for the upcoming international games.
"If I look back at previous captains of Outeniqua’s first teams, it was one of the proudest moments in my life to be part of the history.
"Outeniqua is one of the top rugby schools in South Africa and to be named captain of a team like this will always be great privilege."
Outeniqua have had a successful season thus far, although it has not quite matched the heights of 2013 – they still have some great scalps to boast about.
"The season is going rather well for us," he added.
"Outeniqua is always one of the top 15 schools in SA.
"Although 2013 was an unbelievable year, we have beaten a few big names in 2014, like Paarl Gim, Glenwood and Transvalia."
The clash against Oudtshoorn this weekend will be a massive encounter with Outeniqua fully fit and looking strong for the match.
"We are very lucky to have all our first-choice players available for Saturday’s match," he concluded.
"Seven of our forwards and four of the backs played Craven Week this year.
"The other forward played for the Academy side.
"There are 10 grade 12s and five grade 11 boys in the starting team."
