Paarl rivals make statement against northern counterparts
WEEKEND WRAP: Paarl Interschools rivals Boys High and Gim laid down the marker against their respective northern opponents in the North-South Schools festival.
Paarl Gimnasium recorded a whooping 102-0 victory over KES, whilst Paarl Boys High also blanked Waterkloof by 66-0 on Friday, March 28.
Other big scores across the country saw Affies beat Drostdy by 61-17 and EG Jansen suffering a 10-71 defeat to Boland Landbou.
On Saturday, Paul Roos scraped past Garsfontein by 34-32 as Noordheuwel went down narrowly against Grey College by 22-24.
At the Grey High Schools Festival, Michaelhouse fought until the end to seal a last gasp draw against the hosts.
A missed conversion by Michealhouse fullback Alex Jankowitz denied his side what would have been a famous victory.
In another tightly contested clash, Kearsney College fought back with minutes to spare with a try by Lwandle Mkhize, which Doan Nel converted to give his side a 28-26 lead against Pretoria Boys High.
A missed penalty attempt by Boys High sealed the deal for Kearsney, who celebrated a hard-fought two-point victory.
