Piketberg take the road to Porterville
On Saturday, the West Coast will be divided into two groups – team Piketberg or team Porterville. And as we all know; small confines result in a fierce rivalry.
Porterville opened their doors in 1870 with only 82 learners, albeit just the Primary school. The high school were only later established in 1917.
Their neighbours, situated about 25 km from them, were founded in 1846 and the high school building was established in 1914.
When it comes to the 2017 season, Porterville have experienced an amazing thus far. The side have won 10 out of 13 matches, which includes a 52-0 thrashing of Hoërskool Montana of Worcester.
Meanwhile, Piketberg have not had the most stellar season. Their recent 13-43 defeat to Bonnivale High school place extra pressure on a side who are desperate for a win.
The last time Piketberg won was back in July against Gill College. Thus far, they have won six of 13 matches.
However, when it comes to interschools these two teams understand that statistics count for nothing.
In terms of team news, Portville will be led by flank Boetie Opperman, while lock Jac Goosen skippers Piketberg.
