Prestige Schools at Loftus
Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, one of the great rugby stadiums in the world, plays host to 32 schoolboy rugby first teams on Tuesday, 5 March 2019.
This is the third time that this rugby day will be held.
Most of the teams are from the old Transvaal, but there are also two teams from down in the Western Province – Drostdy of Worcester and Boland Landbou of Paarl, five from the Free State – Goudveld and Welkom Gimnasium, Sentraal of Bloemfontein, Bethlehem Voortrekker and their neighbours Witteberg, and two from Griquas – Diamantveld of Kimberley and Duineveld of Upington. The Northvaal teams stretch from Ben Vorster up in Louis Trichardt to Jeppe in the south, Potchefstroom in the west and Dr EG Jansen in Boksburg on the East Rand.
It is a huge festival.
Alfonso Meyer, the Blue Bulls new CEO, said: “The Blue Bulls Company remains committed to schoolboy rugby development as the process of acquiring the next batch of Bulls’ stalwarts starts here.
“We also hope that by giving the schoolboys an opportunity to play at Loftus Versfeld will inspire them and make dreams come true”
