Schoolboy punished for racial insult

Klerksdorp outside centre André Esterhuizen has landed in hot water after allegedly racially insulting the coach of Potchefstroom Gimnasium when the two schools met in an FNB Classic Clash recently.

Esterhuizen was accused of addressing a racial insult to Thabo Molete, coach of the Potch Gim 1st XV and the Leopards Grant Khomo side, a rugby organiser at the school, apparently addressing him as a 'f****n k****r.

The Leopards Rugby Union convened an independent disciplinary committee to hear the came, made up of Adv. Johan Pretorius, Johan le Grange, who is the legal adviser to the union, and Makwezi Best, the deputy president of the union.

Esterhuizen had been chose at outside centre for the Leopards Craven Week side. He was withdrawn from that and in addition he was banned from all rugby for a year though the ban was suspended for six months on condition that Esterhuizen underwent a life-skills course.
