Schools Day at Newlands

The Schools Day in its present form dates back to 2004 but the aged amongst us will remember an earlier one, played at the end of the season for 1st XVs and Under-15s, a knock-out competition. This was introduced in 1932 after schools in the Western Province abandoned the idea of playing for cups and shields as they had done from 1898. In its place came the Schools Day, played at Newlands on a Wednesday.
