Selborne captain: Tango Balikile
Selborne have exceeded expectations this season, and captain Tango Balikile hopes to cap it all off with a win over Grey High in their FNB Classic Clash this weekend.
The burly front row forward has two years of first team experience under his belt and has represented Border at Grant Khomo, Academy Week and Craven Week.
He knows that he will need to call on all of that experience when he leads ourt a relatively inexperienced Selborne side out against a formidable Grey outfit who have beaten the likes of Grey College, Paul Roos and Wynberg this year.
"Nine of the players are in Grade 11 while the rest are in matric. We are hoping to be at full strength this weekend.
"It has been a good season so far. Through hard work, we have exceeded most of our expectations," he said.
Whilst Selborne have surprised many this year, the result that stands out for Balikile is the win over Queens away from home.
There have been a number of highlights this year but the one which stands out is the win against Queen’s College in Queenstown on their re-union," he said.
He knows that his side have their work cut out for them if they are to avenge the 45-0 drubbing they received in Port Elizabeth last year.
"Last year Grey had a good win but it varies from year to year. We expect them to try to challenge us up front and then go wide. It will be a physical match," he said.
Balikile will try his best to lead from the front and set the tone against a confrontational Grey side.
"They must focus on the task at hand and play the situation and work hard to win the little battles.
"As a player, I understand that I need to adapt my game to the situation. As captain, I have to lead the team both on and off the field, by example. It is an honour leading such a well-rounded group of guys," he said.
