Selborne College provides the final verdict on Jake White saga
UPDATE: Selborne College has confirmed that Springbok World Cup-winning coach Jake White will resume his responsibilities as the school’s rugby consultant after a fall-out this week.
On Tuesday, an explosive letter written by White to the school’s Foundation Trust made the rounds on social media.
In that letter, White accused headmaster Andrew Dewar of interfering with his and director of rugby Derek Page’s roles and deliberately slowing down any processes that involve the school’s rugby programme.
He also accused the headmaster of not being committed to change, poor communication, a lack of accountability, being too controlling, and prioritising hockey, among many other things.
White said he would step down from his role, and Page confirmed to Rugby365 that he had followed his counterpart after experiencing similar difficulties.

The school has since released a statement revealing that the issues between the parties involved have been resolved.
“We take this opportunity to apologise to the greater Selborne community for the unfortunate negativity that has arisen from the email leaked to social media,” the statement reads.
“The School is pleased to confirm that the internal issues have been amicably resolved and that it will continue to work in partnership with Jake White in strengthening and advancing its rugby programme.
“We extend our gratitude to Jake for his continued support and involvement. This partnership reflects a unified commitment to aligning goals and establishing a clear, combined vision that supports excellence both on and off the playing field.
“The Headmaster, staff of Selborne College, the School’s Governing Body, the Old Selbornian Association and the Selborne Foundation Trust remain committed to the success of the implemented rugby structure, as we are with all other sports, and will align with the School’s vision, values, governance structures and long-term objectives.”
While White is expected to return to his role, the school is yet to provide an update on Page.
