Selborne go round to Port Elizabeth
It's a massive trek. It's not the distance (some 280 km) but its the numbers.
Apart from 18 rugby sides and 10 hockey sides, there are a music evening, golf, debating and tennis. All of these and attendant staff travel to and from, are accommodated with parents and are fed. Brave schools, providing wonderfully for their boys, giving them memories that will stay special for the rest of their days.
And the one score that they will not forget will be the score of the 1st XV match and the heroes than ran urgently about Philip Field.
Season So Far
Grey has had a better, more successful and more consistent season but from time to time Selborne have pulled the rabbit out of the hat, never more so than when they beat Grey College of Bloemfontein.
Otherwise Selborne have beaten and lost to Hudson Park, Queen's and Dale. In all they have won 10 of their 17 matches and are at present ranked 20th on the Schools Top 20. Grey have been more consistent winning 11 and drawing one of their 15 matches. Their best performance was probably beating DHS 50-7, and DHS are presently ranked 13th. Grey are ranked 14th, their lowest position this year but that match against the other Grey weighs heavily.
