Ukhanyo captain: Athi Boto

Athi Boto will look to call on his considerable experience when he leads Ukhanyo against Alexandria High in their FNB Classic Clash.

The physical 1.89 metre, 89 kg lock forward has played for the first team for three years, so he knows just what to expect in the big Port Alfred rural derby this weekend.

Boto says that he takes immense pride from leading the Ukhanyo side who have been on a good run this year.

"I feel blessed for being the captain of the because we have done extremely well this season under my belt, the boys play their heart out," he said.

The Ukhanyo captain will be looking to lead from the front and do the hard work to lay a platform for his side to dominate.

"My ability is to run with the ball as ball carrier and take lineouts when possible," he explained.

He added that they hope to run Alexandria off their feet this weekend.

"Playing competitive rugby that is blending to our culture as the team. Running and set up pieces in the rucks," he said.

Although he has been playing at first team level. Boto is still only in Grade 11, and he believes that his team has great potential for growth in the future.

"The team is built up with upcoming youngsters for the future and they are well talented," he said.
