Volkies edge Gimmies in historic win
*Meanwhile in Roodepoort, Florida denied Marais Viljoen back-to-back victories with their 17-15 win in a tightly a contested match.
*While in the Free State, HTS Sasolburg secured a second consecutive Classic Clash victory in their 20-10 win over hosts Sasolburg High School.
*It was one-way traffic in Bethlehem as Bethlehem Voortrekker ran in seven unanswered tries to claim an emphatic 51-3 Classic Clash victory over Witteberg and extend their unbeaten record to nine matches.
*Ben Vorster outscored Pietersburg by five tries to four, however, it was the trusty boot of Morne Venter – who kicked 20 points – that saw Pietersburg claim a 40-29 victory in their match.

Potch Gimnasium 17-18 Potch Volkies
The first half kicked off in front of a packed stadium which added to the great atmosphere of the much anticipated encounter between the schools. The hosts took an early lead through an Edrich Cronje try, who also kicked a successful conversion.
Not long after that, Henri Campher of Potch Volkies also visited the try-line and Hanru van Rooyen added the extras. Edrich Cronje put on a brilliant performance, contributing all Potch Gimmies' points in the first half.
The half time score saw the home side taking a 17-13 lead at the break.
Potch Volkskool managed to put on a brave performance and attacked Gimmies' defense as soon as the second half started. It was not long before their brave efforts were rewarded with Henri Campher's second try of the match.
The final score saw Potch Volkies walked away with an 18-17 victory.

Florida 17-15 Marais Viljoen
The first half started off really scrappy with both teams first assessing the opposition. The teams eventually started to get their heads in the game, which led to points being registered late in the first half. Both teams crossed the try-line on two occasions, but failed to add any further points to the score line, as they went into the break locked at 10-all.
The second half started much better, Florida added to their tally through a try by Ruan Oosthuizen. HG de Kok stepped up to add the extras, giving his team a two point lead. It was a very physical second half with little separating the teams.
On the brink of full-time, Marais Viljoen scored a try through Jacques Wyngaart, but a missed penalty denied Marais Viljoen a late equalizer. The game ended 17-15 in Florida's favour.

Sasolburg HS 12-20 HTS Sasolburg
HTS Sasolburg showed their dominance early in the first half. The hosts gave the opposition no chance to build momentum, as they ran in three unanswered tries through Tebello Thula, Thato Mofokeng and Cheslyn Jafta.
Naigan Wolmarans successfully kicked one conversion and that proved to be the only points of the half, as the hosts took a 17-0 lead to the change room.
Sasolburg HS came out more attack minded in the second half and managed to break through the hosts' defense for their first points on the board. Lebo Lethale and Johny van der Merwe grabbed the tries while Jacques van der Heever was able to slot just one conversion to reduce the hosts' lead to five points.
However, HTS Sasolburg were awarded a penalty and Wolmarans stepped up, held his nerve and extended his team lead to ensure the match ended 20-12 in favour of HTS Sasolburg.

HS Pietersburg 40-29 HS Ben Vorster
Form the outset, the crowd knew they would be in for a spectacular match as both teams were up for the Classic Clash challenge.
The home side's first half points came from tries by JV Coetzee and Henk van Zyl, while Morne Venter added both conversions as well as two penalties for their 20 first half points. Ben Vorster, on the hand, could only manage two unconverted tries through Stefan Engelbrecht and Welmar Pieterse.
That led to Pietersburg holding a 20-10 lead at the half-time interval.
It was a carbon-copy in terms of points for Pietersburg in the second half as Francois de Beer and Miguel de Sousa got their names onto the try-scorers list while Venter once again added the conversions and a further two penalties.
Ben Vorster outscored their hosts, in terms of tries scored, as JJ Anker, Danny Mokhoabane and Tumi Monoyane got over the try line. Andre Klopper and Mokhoabane could only manage to slot one penalty each though, as their kicking woes continued.
That inability to convert their tries, led to Ben Vorster suffering just their third defeat of the season.

Bethlehem Voortrekker 51-3 Witteberg
Bethlehem Voortrekker wing Willie Naudé was in a try scoring mood as he bagged three of his side's seven tries and flyhalf Louis Viljoen contributed 13 points with his boot after landing five conversions and two penalties.
From the outset, it was clear that Voortrekker were up for the challenge and ensured they ran Witteberg into the ground, especially in the second half when they scored 33 unanswered points.
The first half was a tight affair which saw Witteberg claim their only points of the match through a George Sperschott penalty. However, Voortrekker were in a points scoring mood and ensured an 18-3 half-time lead.
It was one-way traffic in the second half as Voortrekker put the hammer down on a wonderful performance. Witteberg had no answers to the Voortrekker onslaught as they conceded 33 points. Voortrekker claimed the Classic Clash to continue their dominance over their rivals.
