Volkskool - Erwin Ittershagen-Strauss
Erwin Ittershagen-Strauss will be happy to be leading an extremely experienced team out against Union High in their Classic Clash on Saturday.
The burly openside flank has been steadily on the rise in his rugby career having represented EP COuntry Districts at this years Craven Week.
This comes after making the Grant Khomo Week in 2012 and the Academy Week last year.
Volkskool will welcome their 13 matriculants that will start on Saturday with eight of them already having played a year at the First Team level.
"There are no injuries and we will field our strongest team," the captain said after confirming the make-up of his team.
With both teams set to field their best possible teams, it is set to be a well-polished performance and Ittershagen-Strauss is ready for it.
"It is going to be an expansive game with the ball set to go wide," the captain said
"I think the forwards will set the tone but the game will be loose and it will make for a fast game."
The captain with his experienced team are aware that things may seem comfortable, but they need to remain humble.
"We know we are a good team and we are very sure of ourselves," he continued.
"We just need to remain humble because a Classic Clash of this magnitude is always a different ball-game."
The captain is one who proves that rugby players can also have a bit of brain behind them as he looks set to study at Stellenbosch.
"I am going to do a B.Com in Mathematical Sciences at Stellenbosch next year," he concluded.
