Another injury-enforced call up for B&I Lions
INJURY UPDATE: The British and Irish Lions’ four-match winning streak has come at a heavy cost.
The side touched down in Brisbane ahead of the First Test of the 2025 Lions Series at the Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.
The Lions arrived in Queensland having just completed an unbeaten sequence of five matches in 14 days – travelling between Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide.
Andy Farrell’s side recorded victories over Western Force (7-54), Queensland Reds (12-52), NSW Waratahs (10-21), Brumbies (24-36) and an AUNZ Invitational XV (0-48).
However, the strenuous preparations seem to have taken a toll, and the team are set to add a few new faces to the squad.
On Saturday, it was confirmed that Jamie George will join the side following the loss of England hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie to a suspected concussion in Saturday’s Adelaide Oval fixture.
On Sunday, the B&I Lions announced the call-up of Ireland and Leinster utility back Jamie Osborne, alongside his teammate Tom Clarkson.
Osborne has linked up with the squad on Sunday in Brisbane.
England and Saracens’ George is in transit and will join the squad in the coming days from Argentina.
Leinster tight-head prop Clarkson will also join in the next few days to provide additional front row cover.
