Charvis ruled out of Sydney opener

Colin Charvis has been ruled out of Wales’ first Test against Australia in Sydney on Saturday because of a minor knee injury.

Charvis’ loss is thus another big name set to be missing from Gareth Jenkins’ line-up to be announced on Wednesday, which is already missing a host of big names.

The loss also creates a big void of experience in the team, although replacement Gavin Thomas has played a handful of games at international level.

Charvis arrived in Australia carrying the knock, which kept him out of the Dragons Heineken Cup play-off victory against Calvisano on Friday.
