AUDIO: Ill-discipline not a concern for Lions
LISTEN as Lions head coach Mziwakhe Nkosi speaks about his side’s discipline issues following their 40-19 Currie Cup win over Western Province.
The Lions were dominant in most aspects of their game and ran the visitors off their feet for the majority of the contest.
One issue, though, has been their discipline.
The Lions conceded 11 penalties to the eight of Western Province, which included a yellow card to scrumhalf Nico Steyn for a cynical foul.
Nkosi said that he is not overly concerned about his side’s lack of discipline and that they will address it ahead of their Round Three clash against the Boland Cavaliers.
The article continues below…
“There were a few issues like [Nico Steyn’s] yellow card that challenged us a bit and halted our game’s rhythm, but we were better in the second half.”
Nkosi added: “We’ll have a look. It’s not a big fix. We had Jarod Cairns putting his hands in the ruck once or twice, or for too long, for [referee] Christopher Allison’s liking
“In other instances, we didn’t roll away or had side entries in the Western Province maul.
“It’s all stuff that was around the edge. We didn’t concede scrum penalties and that sort of stuff.
“We must just take a look at each other, and each guy must take responsibility for the disciplinary errors they made.”
