Vermaak made his Stormers debut in 2014 against the Bulls off the bench and became a mainstay in the front row for the Capetonians.
The 37-year-old veteran won the Currie Cup twice with Western Province (2014 and 2017) and the inaugural United Rugby Championship in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Stormers abandoned their hunt for Los Pumas lock Tomas Lavanini.
The Capetonians are thin on experienced locks after the departures of Ruben van Heerden (Montpellier) and Salmaan Moerat (La Rochelle).
Director of Rugby John Dobson said that Lavanini’s contract proved too steep for the Capetonians and that they would back their homegrown talent instead, according to Netwerk24.
“We would rather put our faith in the local guys like Connor Evans, [Junior Boks captain] Riley Norton and Gary Porter, who are full-blooded Stormers,” Dobson said.
The Stormers, however, bolstered their second row stocks with former Western Province Under-21 captain Dylan de Leeuw on a one-year contract after the departure of Alex Groves to Scarlets.
