Cheetahs captain hits milestone as Frans Steyn reveals changes

TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: Cheetahs head coach Frans Steyn has revealed his matchday squad for Friday’s big Currie Cup Round Six clash against Griquas in Bloemfontein.

Captain and lock Victor Sekekete, who joined the Cheetahs from Griquas in 2020, is set to play his 100th match for the Bloem side.

Sekekete, who played for the Junior Springboks in 2014, also represented the Lions and the Southern Kings in his playing career.

Meanwhile, Steyn has made four changes to the starting line-up with Cameron Dawson and Hencus van Wyk switching places in the front row.

John-Kelly Okonkwo will be making his debut for the Cheetahs with Frankie Dos Reis on the replacements bench.

Carel-Jan Coetzee moves to No.12 with Marco Janse van Vuren in the No.13 jersey. Ali Mgijima will provide cover on the bench.

Pierre-Raymond Uys returns, and he will also be on the bench.

The players that are unavailable due to injury are Carl Wegner (hamstring), George Lourens (hand/forearm), Dux Manyama (hamstring), Tielman Niewoudt (back), Pieter Janse van Vuren (hamstring), Tiaan Swanepoel (groin), Ntokozo Makhaza (ankle), Munier Hartzenberg (hamstring), Louis van der Westhuizen (calf), James Verity-Amm (neck), Ethan Wentzel (ankle), Curtly Ambrose Thomas (hamstring)
