South African playmaker joins French Top 14 side
TRANSFER NEWS: French Top 14 side Lyon have signed a versatile South African playmaker ahead of the 2026/2027 season.
On Friday, the club officially unveiled scrumhalf Sanele Nohamba, who joins on a two-year contract.
The 27-year-old heads to France from the Shizuoka Blue Revs in Japan.
Nohamba, who can also play flyhalf, came through the ranks at the Sharks before he made the move to the Lions in 2022.
After a number of eye-catching performances for the Johannesburg side, the playmaker won the SA URC Player of the Season award in 2024.
“Nohamba will add depth to the squad and bolster the ‘Red and Blacks’ with his quality and experience as they compete in both [Top 14 and Challenge Cup] competitions,” said a statement from Lyon.
