Griquas' 'magic' man's time at Sharks comes to an end
SPOTLIGHT: One of Griquas’ standout players during their 2025 Currie Cup title-winning campaign will return to Kimberley following a short-term loan spell with Premiership giants Sale Sharks.
Speedster Gurshwin Wehr, affectionately dubbed as ‘magic’ by his peers, will return to Griquas following a short-term spell with Sale Sharks, who have fellow South Africans Hyron Andrews, Ernst van Rhyn, Jacques Vermeulen, Dan du Preez, Marius Louw and Robert du Preez on their books.
Wehr’s return to Kimberley is timely as Griquas prepare for the upcoming SA Cup tournament starting on March 6 to qualify for the 2026 Currie Cup to defend their title.
In a social media statement, Sale said: “Thank you, Gursh.
“Gurshwin Wehr has left the club following the expiry of his short-term deal.
“Everyone at the Sharks would like to thank him for his hard work and commitment, and we wish him all the very best for his next chapter.”
