Griquas tweak for crucial clash against Pumas
TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: Griquas have made minor changes to their starting XV for the Currie Cup final round-robin clash against the Pumas on Friday.
The Griquas fresh from back-to-back wins over Cheetahs and Western Province respectively, head to Nelspruit as firm favourites.
A win will ensure the Griquas side book a semifinal spot in this season’s Currie Cup competition.
Griquas flyhalf George Whitehead returns to the starting XV.
The scrumhalf replaces Alex-Zander du Plessis, who will miss the fixture due to a concussion.
Whitehead is joined by scrumhalf veteran Stefan Ungerer as the new halfback pair.
Ungerer is set to join the Stormers on a two-year deal next season.
“Zander du Plessis misses this game with concussion, but luckily we have George Whitehead coming in who played really well against WP last week,” Griquas head coach Pieter Bergh said.
“George and Stefan Ungerer played a big part in getting Griquas to the play-offs last season and hopefully their experience will be valuable for us on Friday.”
