Lions lose Bok scrummie

TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: Golden Lions will be without the services of Springboks Ross Cronje when they take on the Blue Bulls at Loftus on Saturday.

Cronje, who seem to have fallen down Rassie Erasmus’ scrumhalf pecking order in the last few weeks, has been called to travel to Australasia with the Springbok group.

The 29-year-old’s absence means that not only does the Lions sit with a new scrumhalf, but they will also have a new captain for the Currie Cup fixture.

Dillon Smith comes is at No.9 while Springboks lock Marvin Orie will captain the team.

Lionel Mapoe, who returns fresh from Springboks duty, pairs up with Howard Mnisi in the midfield.
