AUDIO: Province out to limit Bosch's influence
Province have given away a truck load of penalties this season and they will not be wanting to give Sharks flyhalf Curwin Bosch opportunities to keep the scoreboard ticking over in Durban.
Bosch has also shown that he is comfortable slotting drop goals, so keeping the 20-year-old out of the strike zone will also be a top priority on Saturday.
"Territory is going to be important," said Dobson. We are also aware of the drop [goal] threat if the game is very tight, so we got a couple of plans around that.
"With the overall picture of the game, territory is important, but we also got a plan if he [Bosch] is going for a match-winning drop as well.
"I have got no doubt that if our discipline is like it was last week [in the 19-5 semifinal win against the Golden Lions] again in terms of conceding those penalties, we are unlikely to win the Currie Cup. Both from the point of view of Curwin kicking over or us defending mauls in our 22."
While Bosch will have a spotlight on him on Saturday, Dobson will know that his flyhalf, Robert du Preez, will also be a marked man.
Du Preez was the star of the show in Province's 31-20 win over the Sharks in Durban two weeks ago. The 24-year-old flyhalf often performs at his best when he faces his father's [Robert du Preez senior's] team, which also consists of his two younger twin brothers Jean-Luc and Daniel.
However, Dobson does not want any sideshows to add pressure on his flyhalf's shoulders.
"I'm not sure what is going on in the Du Preez WhatsApp group. Without trying to create cliches, the Sharks were on top of the log and they are playing at home and that is significant pressure on the whole lot.
"Honestly we are not feeling massive pressure from any sort of subplots from the Union or anything like that. We are just going there to do our best."
Dobson added: "I don't want Rob to feel like he has got to point to prove or win it by himself or anything like that.
"All I want is a copy and paste from two weeks ago in terms of his performance. There is no doubt he took Curwin on [in that game]. He took the ball to the line nicely and his territory was great and that is all we want from him.
"I don't want him to try and win the Currie Cup single-handedly."
